It is National Honey Day on Friday 21st October and village beekeepers Ashley Shaw and Dr. Kam Shun Wong have been busy all summer long to ensure supplies of delicious West Leake Honey are available for villagers to celebrate the occasion in style.

Ashley has been keeping bees for 25 years and in the summer when their eleven hives are at full strength, they can house around 500,000 bees! There are so many different flowers and shrubs in the village, that West Leake honey can vary from week to week in its taste.

This has been an exceptionally good year and they’ve bottled nearly 400lbs of honey. So grab yourself some delicious honey in time for national honey day at just £6 per 1lb jar
